Shiraz

Our first planting of Shiraz took place in 2000. The realization of this dream  was surely greatly influenced by Uwe`s  long  period in Australia.

The first Shiraz to be introduced to the market was a powerful, fruity 2003 vintage, a real highlight. This was rewarded in the 2005 international wine awards “Mundus Vini” where it was voted best German red.  We had only 600 bottles  which were soon sold out!  The 2004 vintage is still maturing in oak, promising to be another outstanding wine and yet to be bottled.

Regional cultivation:

Originating from the Rhone valley and still to be found there to a large degree, first became well known with it` s introduction to the New World wine countries such as Australia, South Africa and California.

The wine itself:

The sensory description of our 2003 spätlese Shiraz which we matured in oak casks,  is as follows: reminiscent of mocha, dark chocolate, red berries with a subtle toasty fragrance. Full bodied complexity in combination with velvety tannins.
